Dr. T. John Koo currently serves as the Director and Chief Architect of Research & Technology Development (Digital Engineering) at the Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre (LSCM) in Hong Kong. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000. Prior to this, he completed an M.Phil. in Information Engineering and a B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1994 and 1992, respectively.

Throughout his distinguished engineering career, Dr. Koo has received numerous accolades for his research contributions. His academic excellence was early recognized with the Distinguished M.Phil. Thesis Award from the Faculty of Engineering at CUHK in 1994. He was subsequently honored with the prestigious US National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award in 2005. His later achievements include the 2012 Distinguished Young Scientist Award of Scientific Chinese, the China Association for Science & Technology, and the 2018 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Equipment and Machinery Design Award.

Dr. Koo has held several prominent leadership and academic appointments globally. He previously served as the Head of Digital Manufacturing and Director of Cyber-Physical Systems at the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI). In Mainland China, he was a Full Professor, Researcher, and Director of the Center for Embedded Software Systems at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). His international academic engagements include serving as Visiting Professor/Faculty in INRIA Rennes-Bretagne Atlantique, France, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and the University of California at Berkeley, USA.

Furthermore, Dr. Koo has involved in major international research organizations. He was Faculty Member of the Sino-European Laboratory in Computer Science, Automation and Applied Mathematics (LIAMA), the US NSF ITR Center for Hybrid and Embedded Software Systems (CHESS) at the University of California at Berkeley, USA, and the Institute for Software Integrated Systems (ISIS) at Vanderbilt University, USA.

A Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Dr. Koo has also provided strategic engineering consultancy for global and local organizations. He was Consultant for Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Hong Kong, ASM Pacific Technology Limited (ASMPT), Hong Kong, and Stanford Research Institute (SRI), USA.
