It is our honour to host this conference in Hong Kong, a dynamic city celebrated for its rich history as a global crossroads, seamlessly linking ideas, people and systems. That same spirit of connection shapes this conference, which serves not only as a forum for sharing and exchange, but also as a deliberate convergence of research, practice, policy and industry.
In this era of rapid transformation, we are at a pivotal moment for wastewater treatment and stormwater drainage services. Asset management of drainage facilities is no longer limited to routine inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation. Today, it is increasingly empowered by smart sensing, AI-driven analytics, digital twins and robotics. When integrated thoughtfully, these technologies deepen our understanding of asset condition and improve how we plan, operate and maintain critical infrastructure.
