Prof. Ng is a Chair Professor, with his research focusing on smart city, sustainable built environment, community resilience, infrastructure asset management, digital transformation, construction informatics, construction industry performance and productivity, project delivery systems, etc. He has published over 500 scholarly items, including more than 300 refereed journal papers. His research excellence has earned him the Silver Medal at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva; Chartered Institute of Building International Innovation and Research Awards 2012: Project Innovation Award – Highly Commended Award; and various international research paper awards.

Prof. Ng is a Member of Technical Committee of Thermal Performance and Energy Use in the Built Environment set up by the International Organization for Standardization. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Institution of Civil Engineers, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and Chartered Institute of Building.
